Chiang Mai Self-Care Guide: Spas, Massages & Wellness
From dental cleanings to Thai massages and facial spas, here's how to build the perfect self-care day in Chiang Mai, Thailand — all for under $60.
After traveling for almost six months, we were feeling pretty worn, but thankfully we realized Chiang Mai was a great city to do some self care! We worked in 4 self care activities between hiking, temple visits and eating! Here are some of our other favorite things we did in Thailand.
Get Your Teeth Cleaned (Yes, Really)
Hear me out. Dental tourism is a real thing in Thailand, and we took full advantage. We visited Dental 4 U and had a genuinely great experience — professional, clean, and completely stress-free. They were actually recommended by my sister. Costs run around 800–2,000 THB ($25–$60 USD) depending on what you need. If you've been putting off a cleaning or checkup at home, Chiang Mai is the place to finally just do it. Since we were on the road 6+ months, this was a perfect stop to get a cleaning!
Treat Your Skin at Candice Facial Spa
Candice Facial Spa was an easy yes for us. Facials start at 855 THB (~$26 USD) and face massages start at 535 THB (~$16 USD). I really wanted to get a facial massage and this was the perfect place to do it!
Get a Hair Spa Treatment
This one was my pick, and it was absolutely worth it. I visited Day Dream Sleep Salon for a hair massage and wash — it's always such a joy to have someone take care of your hair, especially after weeks of travel buns and humidity. I actually did a hair spa in HCM, Vietnam as well and it had be wanting to try again! Options on their site start around 900 THB (~$30 USD). We also came across OM Hair Spa, which looked equally lovely if you want an alternative
Get a Thai Massage (Obviously)
You cannot visit Thailand and skip the massage. We went to Mekkhara Massage — no frills, no fuss, just a solid experience at a very wallet-friendly price. Thai massages in Chiang Mai typically run around 200–400 THB ($6–$12 USD) for an hour. We also looked into Antique Massage Chiang Mai if you want something with a little more atmosphere.
