Where to eat in Hanoi: 4 Must Try spots in Vietnam's foodie city

Vietnam is a dream destination for food lovers, and if you’re planning a visit, Hanoi should be high on your list. Known as one of the top foodie cities in Southeast Asia, Hanoi delivers everything from legendary street food to cozy cafés and elevated dining experiences. Whether you're on a career break, planning a mini retirement, or just hungry for adventure (and banh mi), we’ve got your taste buds covered.

We’re Kaylina and Ryan, a couple currently traveling the world on a six-month sabbatical. If you love travel, street food, and a little comedy mixed in, come follow along @kaylinaandryan!

We spent a few days eating our way through Hanoi, and here are four of our favorite spots that you have to try:

📍 Blue Butterfly

Nestled in the heart of the Old Quarter, Blue Butterfly combines traditional Vietnamese flavors with beautiful ambiance. It’s a great spot if you’re craving authentic dishes like bun cha or spring rolls in a sit-down setting with character.

📍 Banh Mi 25

Arguably one of the most famous banh mi stalls in Hanoi, this place lives up to the hype. Crispy bread, flavorful fillings, and fast service—what’s not to love? Don’t skip the coconut coffee here—it was one of our favorite drinks of the trip.

📍 Hanoi Garden

This hidden gem offers a peaceful escape from the chaos of the city with a menu full of classic Vietnamese dishes. The food is fresh, beautifully plated, and the garden vibe is a nice break from Hanoi’s busy streets.

📍 MET Vietnamese

We liked MET so much, we ended up eating at their locations in other cities too. It’s a modern take on Vietnamese cuisine—still flavorful and true to the roots, but with a slightly elevated twist. Perfect for date night or a more polished dinner.
