Visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park
On of the top of places to visit in Croatia is Plitvice Lakes National Park and it is a top spot for a reason. Around every turn we found ourselves saying "oh my good" and "wow" again and again. The amazing blue of the water and the waterfalls at every turn can be sure to delight even the most black of hearts. Visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park should be on your list for Croatia!
We rented a car and drove to the area from Zagreb, staying about 10 minutes away in a small apartment stay -Apartment Kristic Plitvice , It was a good price and good location with friendly hosts! There are also many tours that go to the area from Zagreb and Split.

Things to note:
1. It is busy, but if you go past some of the popular spots you can explore more of the park with less people.
2. The ticket is a little pricey, but they do offer seasonal pricing so if you go off season you can save a little money. Make sure to buy in advance and look up the times. We saw a couple arrive after they stopped selling tickets and they were sent away. You also will pay for parking - so plan for that!
3. You cannot swim here. It was a hot day when we went and the water certainly was calling to us, but we understand why they stopped allowing swimming to protect the park.
4. The park is super well organized and you can download the app ahead of time to see which trails you'd enjoy.
