3-Day Itinerary for Ljubljana, Slovenia
We had a great time exploring Ljubljana and wish we had a few more days to spend, but here is a nice itinerary we used when visiting including day trips to Lake Bled and Postojna caves!
Day 1:
We started day 1 with a free walking tour. This was a great way to learn about the city and get the lay of the land around the city.
After our walking tour, we rented bikes for 1 Euro (1 Euro for 7 days!) through the city biking app. This is a bike sharing system with many locations through the city and up to 1 hour is free. We found ourselves using this throughout our time there. Check it out.
For lunch, we took the leads to Burek Olimpija and enjoyed a tasty and cheap lunch.
We continued biking around the city and visited Tivoli park. We did not see the castle, but we would recommend you check it out!
For dinner we went to Slovenska Hisa, this was traditional Slovenia food and we really enjoyed it.
After dinner we stumbled into Yauya Patisserie and this cookie was a top 3 dessert on our entire trip!
Day 2:
Day 2 we ventured to Lake Bled, this was a story book town and we wrote a blog about our experience. We had to take the bus since the train was under construction, but we'd recommend you look into the train!
We rented a row boat, which was fun, but the pictures are a bit better then the experience. You can either bring a lunch for a picnic or stop by one of the many restaurants!
Before dinner you can take a dip and relax at the beach on the far end of the lake.
We had dessert at the Hotel Starkl, but we'd recommend having dinner here since we made it make into town late.
Day 3:
We took another day trip off to the Postojna Caves. I wasn't particular excited for visiting caves, but they exceed by expectations. We also put together a blog on this experience! You can take the train here, which was pretty smooth.
We did some snacks and then had dinner at Hood Burger back in the city before enjoying an evening stroll.
Ljubljana has a LOT to do, especially if you take the day trips, we would definitely recommend planning a few more days to explore this awesome city!
